The Holyoke Revolver Club holds its Six-Gun Shoots the 4th Saturday of March, April, May and then August, September, October.
This event is held outside at the steel target range from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
We’re not talking just revolvers here, we’re talking six different guns, hand guns and long guns with a round count of at least 50 to complete the course.
Think of a 3 Gun match, plus a Fun Shoot, with a touch of Practical mixed in……….. TIMES SIX.
The course consists of six different shooting positions with a different firearm at each position. Calibers range from 22LR to 12ga shotgun. Targets are primarily steel, but clay and paper targets are mixed in as well. The course and / or the firearms are always changing! Scoring is total time on the timer. Please keep in mind this is NOT competition based. It is an event based on fun, skill building, and an opportunity to try out various firearms.
Some of the firearms used in the course are: Ruger MK IV .22LR pistol w/red dot sight, Ruger 10/22 .22LR rifle iron sights, S&W 617 22LR revolver iron sights, Remington 870 12ga pump shotgun, Ruger New Vaquero single action revolver iron sights, Remington 1100 12ga semi-auto shotgun, Lever action rifle .22LR iron sights, S&W M&P 15-22, Colt 1911 45acp, ect.
If anyone is unfamiliar with any of the firearms, many of our Clubs Certified Instructors and Range Safety Officers will be available to offer assistance. If you’re still not comfortable, you can simply bypass it and just shoot the others.
