General Club Rules:
Holyoke Revolver Club is a members only Club.
Only Members may shoot at the Club.
Members must have their membership badges displayed on them while at the Club.
Members (and guests) are required to sign in and out.
Every member is responsible for Club safety, cleanliness and security.
Cleaning and working on firearms is only allowed at an indoor shooting port or on an outdoor shooting table. No cleaning or working on firearms in the classroom or Board room.
All firearms must remain cased or holstered unless on an established firing line.
Eye and ear protection is mandatory on all ranges when anyone is shooting.
No shooting of non-target items, glass, paint cans, produce, or exploding targets, etc.
No shooting of aerial / flying targets. Clay pigeon targets may be used outdoors as a stationary target but projectile(s) must impact an established sand backstop.
All personal, non-paper, targets must be approved by the Club Governor, or Club officer before use at HRC.
No shooting of tracer ammunition, ceremonial cannons, signal cannons, flare guns, or fully automatic firearms (machine guns).
Used targets, ammo boxes, and brass must be cleaned up when you’re finished and placed in the proper receptacles for each.
All shooting must be directed towards an established backstop.
Absolutely no handling of firearms is permitted by anyone on the line while members are downrange. All persons are to remain at least one step away from any firearms and ammunition while others are forward of the firing line.
The consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.

If any member witnesses irresponsible behavior always attempt to respectfully correct and explain the behavior to the other member. If in doubt report it to a Club officer, Instructor, or RSO.
If you are not sure… ask! Safety is everyone’s responsibility!
NRA Basic Rules For Safe Gun Handling
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Know your target and what is beyond.
Be sure the gun is safe to operate. Know how to use the gun safely.
Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
Be aware that certain types of guns and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.
Membership Badges
All Club members must display their membership badges while on Club property. Except organizational members while in uniform.
If a badge is lost the Membership Secretary must be notified immediately.
A replacement must be obtained from the Membership Secretary prior to using HRC facilities.
The loaning of membership badges to other members or non-members is prohibited.
All Members may request to see the membership badge and ID of anyone on Club property. HRC will take action if persons do not cooperate with requests to produce a valid Membership Badge and ID upon request of another member.

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM January, February, March
8:00 AM – 7:00 PM April
8:00 AM – 7:30 PM May, June, July, August
8:00 AM – 7:00 PM September
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM October
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM November, December
No Outdoor Shooting on these days:
Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, New Year’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day

Indoor Range Shooting Hours:
Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Except for scheduled Club events.
Check the calendar for any last minute changes.
During Board meetings the indoor range is open.
During member meetings the indoor range is closed from 5:00 – 9:00 PM
Guest Policy:
Club members may bring a guest for a tour of the Club, but neither party may shoot, handle firearms, or ammunition during the tour.
Club members may bring a guest to a regularly scheduled Club event. Examples: Fun shoot, Practical shoot, Bullseye match, etc. Where the Club member may participate and shoot. The member’s guest cannot participate, shoot, handle firearms, or ammunition at any point while on Club property.
The member’s guest is the responsibility of the member.
Members who bring a guest must inform the Range Officer of the event that they have brought a guest upon arrival.
Guests must follow all HRC rules while on Club property.
Members are encouraged to bring guests to monthly membership meetings.
Junior Members:
Junior Members are members under 18 years of age.
Junior Members must be accompanied by their parent or sponsor while on Club property.
Junior Members less than 15 years of age must share a firearm with their parent or sponsor. Only one firearm between them may be used at any given time.
Junior Members 15 and older who possess a Mass FID can shoot a firearm on their own while directly supervised by their parent or sponsor. The parent or sponsor may shoot beside the junior while maintaining direct supervision of the junior.
Indoor 50 Foot Range:
Always turn on fans when shooting.
All shooting must be done from the shooting port.
Members are not permitted forward of the firing line except at an authorized Club event.
Holster drawing at the firing line is prohibited. (The removal of a personal protection firearm being carried by a member once for the purpose of using it for target practice or making the firearm safe is allowed.)
All handguns, .22 Rimfire rifles and Pistol caliber carbines (PCC’s) may be used.
Centerfire rifles or shotguns are not to be used.
No ammunition with a power factor greater than a .44 magnum.
No .500, .460, .480 or .17 HMR (Hornady Rimfire Rifle)
The use of ammunition with steel core, steel jacketed or bimetal bullets is prohibited at this range.
Used targets, ammo boxes, and brass must be cleaned up when you’re finished and placed in the proper receptacles for each. Use squeegees for cleaning up brass not brooms.
50 Yard Covered Line (behind the Club house):
Outdoor shooting hours and holiday restrictions must be strictly observed and followed!
ALL handguns, .22 caliber rimfire rifles, Pistol caliber carbines (PCC’s) and shotguns may be used on this range.
No centerfire rifles.
You may use ammunition with steel core, steel jacketed or bimetal bullets at this range if firing into the sand backstop.
All shooting must be directed towards the established backstop.
All shots must impact backstops approximately 36 inches to 72 inches above the ground. Set targets up to insure this happens.
Steel Target Range: (behind the club house):
Outdoor shooting hours and holiday restrictions must be strictly observed and followed!
ALL handguns, .22 caliber rimfire rifles, Pistol caliber carbines (PCC’s) and shotguns may be used on this range.
No centerfire rifles.
All shooting must be directed towards the established backstop.
All shots must impact backstops approximately 36 inches to 72 inches above the ground. Set targets up to insure this happens.
Steel targets may be used with: All Handguns chambered in handgun calibers (No .500, .460, .480 .17 HMR) Rifles chambered in 22LR only (No .17 HMR – Hornady rimfire rifle) All pistol caliber carbines. Centerfire rifles and shotguns are prohibited on the steel targets and must not be used. Ammunition with a power factor greater than a .44 magnum must not be used. The use of ammunition with steel core, steel jacketed or bimetal bullets is prohibited on the steel targets and must not be used.
Practical Ranges A & B:
Outdoor shooting hours and holiday restrictions must be strictly observed and followed!
ALL handguns, .22 caliber rimfire rifles, Pistol caliber carbines and shotguns may be used on this range.
No centerfire rifles.
You may use ammunition with steel core, steel jacketed or bimetal bullets at this range if firing into the sand backstop.
All shooting must be directed towards the established backstop.
All shots must impact backstops approximately 36 inches to 72 inches above the ground. Set targets up to insure this happens.
100 Yard Range:
Outdoor shooting hours and holiday restrictions must be strictly observed and followed!
All centerfire rifles may be used on this range. (50 BMG. Is NOT allowed)
ALL handguns, Pistol caliber carbines (PCC’s) and shotguns may be used on this range.
You may use ammunition with steel core, steel jacketed or bimetal bullets at this range if firing into the sand backstop.
All shooting must be directed towards the established backstop.
All shots must impact backstops approximately 36 inches to 72 inches above the ground. Set targets up to insure this happens.

Centerfire – Centerfire ammunition is used for rifles, handguns, and shotguns. In this type of ammunition, the primer is located in the center of the casing base, the firing pin strikes the center to ignite the primer.
Rimfire – Rimfire ammunition is used for rifles and handguns. In this type of ammunition the primer is contained in the rim of the casing base. The firing pin strikes rim to ignite the primer.
Power factor – Power factor is calculated by the formula: bullet weight times velocity divided by 1000
