Life Member of The Holyoke Revolver Club

The Holyoke Revolver Club mourns the passing of our good friend and HRC Life Member, Edward Pelland.
Ed has been a member of the Club since our range was down on Main Street in the center of Holyoke.
He was involved with many of the activities and volunteer work happening at the Holyoke Revolver Club:

1970’s – Regional State Championship Matches were held at the HRC.  Ed and his son set up
turning targets at the 25 yard line on the Fridays preceding the matches.
1980’s – As an electrician he helped with the electrical wiring on the new clubhouse.
1990’s – Ed was an Officer of the Board, taking part in the decisions of the Club.

Ed was on the committee that put together the dinner and celebration of the club’s 75th  year anniversary.
More recently he acted as the representative for the NRA and GOAL, signing up new
members to these organizations at the back table during members meetings.
He also started the Friday Morning Shoot for the Seniors, where all could shoot,
socialize, and make new friends.

Ed will be missed by all that knew him.

For information on the WMPL or Rimfire Benchrest Rifle please contact Ron Mehlhorn.

USPSA – Practical Matches  – The Club’s USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) Practical Matches will resume this Saturday, 4/10/21. The stages picked for this match have a low round count to be considerate of the ammo shortage. One big change for this year’s practicals is that some of the matches this year will be held on Sundays. Always check the Clubs calendar for up to date information.

Safety is our number one priority. Please review the info/rules regarding this Club activity

This is a total participation sport – which means your participation does not stop after shooting.
Everyone needs to pitch in: Taping targets, help with set up and/or clean up.

8:00 am – Set up – Please come help!
9:00 am – New shooter safety review
9:45 am – Match safety briefing – All shooters
10:00am – Match starts

The Club would like to thank Dan Jones for all of his efforts in running the Clubs Practical matches for many years. The Club would also like to thank and welcome the new Match Directors; Keith Holbrook, Jay Parnell, and Chris Rawson for taking over and keeping things running.
If you have any questions regarding the match contact Chris Rawson

Fun Shoot – Our Director of Fun, Mr. Sparko is having his Fun Shoots outside at The 50 yard Covered Line. Due to recent low attendance and various other reasons, the Fun Shoots will be held once per month for the time being. As interest and participation increases, he will resume the bi-monthly shoots. Be sure to check the Club calendar for the most up to date schedule of events. The next Fun Shoot will be held Tuesday, April 13th weather permitting.

Governors Report

Practical Range – A
We have noticed that some Members have been using the plastic barrels as paper target holders. Those barrels are NOT intended for that purpose. They are meant to be used for the USPSA events ONLY and are not for general use. Purposely shooting at those barrels is not only dangerous it is deliberate destruction of Club property.

Centerfire Rifles
Reminder the only range that centerfire rifles are to be used is the 100 Yard Range.

Club policy
It has become more and more apparent recently that members have been bringing non-target items to the Club like old frying pans among other items to use as targets. This practice is not only unsafe to you and other members, it is in clear violation of Club policy. The first page of the Members Handbook clearly states, “No shooting of non-target items, glass, paint cans, produce, exploding targets, etc.” and “All personal, non-paper, targets must be approved by the Club Governor, or a Club officer before use at HRC.”

Dueling Trees
Please remember for the safety of you and other members as well as the longevity of the targets, you MUST be standing in the proper shooting position when using these targets; which is DIRECTLY in front of the sign for that given target. (Or just beside it, if TWO people are engaging the same target “Dueling”) Please read and follow the information on the signs. If you have any questions or would like to report any issues with these targets or any of the ranges please contact our Clubs Governor, Tom Serricchio at

A friendly reminder, violating Club policies can result in loss of membership.

Police Qualifications

The Police departments have started their annual firearm qualifications. The Holyoke PD, the South Hadley PD, and the HCC Campus PD qualify at our ranges. The different departments utilize different ranges. Club members may use any range that is not in use by the PD at that time. Please be sure and check the dates, they will be posted on the Club calendar.

New member applicants will need to sign up and attend the HRC Range Safety Training and Orientation Class (RST&O) and then attend a members meeting to be voted in as a member. For more information on the new process:  CLICK HERE
