COVID-19

As of May 29, Massachusetts has lifted nearly all COVID-19 restrictions.
June 15th the State of Emergency will be terminated.
Masks are no longer required inside or outside the Club.
All ports on the Indoor Range are open.
Occupancy limits for both indoor and outdoor events are no longer required.
It is encouraged that all members continue a practice that feels best for them. If you are more comfortable wearing a mask then please wear it. Please continue to use the hand sanitizer provided. The HRC volunteer crew will continue to keep our Club clean as usual. We thank you for the cooperation that you have given through this last year.

Club Improvements

The Board of Directors are constantly looking for ways and ideas to improve our Club. In an interest to increase the safety of our members the Club has decided to install two KNOX BOXES. A Knox Box is a small, wall-mounted box/ safe that holds the buildings keys and is only accessible by the local Fire Department utilizing a special key. This enables them to quickly enter a building without having to force entry or find individual keys. After consulting with the Holyoke Fire Department. It was decided it would be best to install one for the main door of the clubhouse and one on the yellow gate leading to the upper ranges.

On a very rainy Saturday, Club Governor Tom Serricchio and RST&O Instructor Chris Rawson volunteered their time to weld on a mounting bracket so the box can be securely attached to the yellow gate. Once the project is completed these two boxes will give the Fire Department/ EMT quick convenient access in the event a member should need medical care or any emergency type situation.

Personal Targets
There continues to be the improper use of random steel targets and target holders.
Last Month this steel target was found at Practical Range A. There are several reasons this target is unsafe to use.

This month this target was found at the 100yd range, attached to the wooden structure. Resulting in a vertical, static target that is not properly pitched downward and cannot move to help absorb the impact. Additionally all close misses were going through the wooden frame and tearing it apart.

This plate is so badly damaged, even if hung properly it would be extremely dangerous to use.

Reminder: bringing items like frying pans or homemade steel plates, among other items to use as targets, is a violation of Club policy. This practice is also unsafe to you and other members. The first page of the Members Handbook clearly states: “No shooting of non-target items, glass, paint cans, produce, exploding targets, etc.” and “All personal, non-paper targets must be approved by the Club Governor, or a Club Director before use at HRC.”

A friendly reminder, violating Club policies can result in loss of membership.

Club Maintenance

The Clubs Landscape contractor comes to mow and maintain all of the outdoor ranges every other week, generally on Tuesdays. Please remember if you should be on one of the outdoor ranges when they arrive you must stop shooting, make your gun safe, and box or bag it. All outdoor ranges are temporarily closed while they are at the Club.
The Indoor Range may be used.

Police Qualifications

The Police departments are continuing to do their annual firearm qualifications. The Holyoke, South Hadley, and the Holyoke Community College PD qualify at our ranges. The different departments utilize different ranges at different times.
Club members may use any range that is not in use by the PD at that time. Please be sure to check the dates, ranges, and times. They are be posted on the Club calendar.

The certificates will allow them to apply for both MA and CT firearm licenses.

We will schedule the next class when a minimum of 4 people are interested. Please contact ChiefInstr@HolyokeRevolverclub.com if you are interested.

GOAL and NRA

The HRC strongly encourages its members to join The Gun Owners Action League (GOAL).
GOAL is the premiere 2nd amendment organization here in the State of MA fighting hard for gun owners, our rights, ranges, retail stores, and the sport as a whole.
Carl Eger is the Club’s recruiter for GOAL and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He can be found at the back of the room at the monthly members meetings. He offers NRA memberships at a discount, and the NRA returns rebates to the Club of $5 for renewals, and $10 for new memberships.
