Bylaw Change

A bylaw change has been proposed by the Board of Officers and is scheduled for a vote in front of the scheduled membership meeting to be held on September 4, 2019 at the Holyoke Revolver Club, Inc., 431 West Cherry St. Holyoke, MA 01040 at 7:00 PM.
The bylaw change involves two sections and will not affect the status of our members.  They are related to general housekeeping and orientation for prospective members.

Junior Team Goes to the Nationals

The Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) National Matches are being held in Ohio this month and members of the HRC Junior Shooting Program are competing in several classes.  After running many fundraisers and receiving a grant from the Friends of NRA, the HRC juniors, accompanied by coaches and parents, are once again testing their speed and accuracy against high school and college shooters from across the country.

Junior Team Grant & the Friends of the NRA.

The Pioneer Valley chapter of the Friends of NRA held their annual dinner on Friday evening, May 3.  The event was a great success. George Apgar announced that the Holyoke Revolver Club Junior Pistol team was awarded a grant of $10,506.83 which will allow them to attend the National SASP competition in Ohio this year.  The Easthampton Fish & Game Club’s Junior Shootgun team was also awarded $6,440.00.  A big Thank ...

Cleanup Day

This Sunday, April 14 will be the day of the annual outdoor cleanup at the club, with April 28 the rain date.  HRC members are asked to bring rakes and other tools. Volunteers are needed.

Virtually everything that happens at the club is the work of volunteers who donate their time.  Club members are encouraged to contact Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Burgess to sign up for club projects and events.

The Gun Owners’ Action League will hold a MA Basic Firearm Safety (BFS) course for registered instructors on Saturday, March 30th, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the clubhouse.  Topics Include:

  • Applicable Laws regarding the possession, transportation and storage of guns within the Commonwealth
  • Suicide prevention and emotional health resources
  • Instructor Requirements under 5.15 CMR 3.05 and Chapter 140 § 131P(b)
  • LEOSA Requirements under 515 CMR 6.00
  • LEOSA Requirements under 515 CMR 6.00

New AED

The club has recently installed an AED (automated external defibrillator) to be used in a case of sudden cardiac arrest.  CPR and AED training is available through the Red Cross and other agencies, but the Phillips HeartStart AED is designed to be used even by untrained personnel, with voice prompts directing the user at each stage.  More information may be found at: https://www.usa.philips.com/healthcare/product/HCNOCTN200/philips-heartstart-home-defibrillator.

Annual Meeting and Election – Change of Venue

The HRC November meeting will be held at the Holyoke Elk’s Lodge 902 (Banquet Room) at 250 Whitney Ave., Holyoke, MA.  We will open doors at 5:30 PM for a light food service and social hour.  The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM, with annual election of officers as our first order of business.
