A & B Ranges Closed

The two practical ranges near the 100-yard range are temporarily out of commission due to winter storm damage, and may not be used until repairs are completed. There will be a work party to assist in the preparation to build the range walls.  Details will be on the club website.

Relay for Life

HRC member Harry Vandoloski spoke at the May meeting about the annual Hampshire County Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, June 17 and 18 at Look Park in Florence. Harry heads up LARGO (Lawful and Responsible Gun Owners), and participants march in distinctive yellow T-shirts to raise funds and represent the shooting community at a national charity event. Information is available at: https://www.facebook.com/hampshirRFL/?rc=p

HRC Cookouts

The club’s summer cookouts are again being held prior to the monthly members’ meetings. Cooking begins at 5, and hamburgers and hot dogs will be on the grill. Salads and desserts are welcome. There is a suggested donation of $5.

Training courses for new range officers and instructors are being planned for the fall. Information will be available on the club website and from president Norm Desilets (president@holyokerevolverclub.com).

Volunteers Needed

The club has a full calendar of competition and training events, all staffed by volunteers. With 600 members and growing, the club needs more volunteers to assist at the activities. Anyone who can contribute some time should contact the club through the website or the club phone at 539-9345.

Juniors

The junior rifle and pistol programs are up and running for the season. Details are on the club website. The pistol team is planning to compete in the national championships in Ohio in July, and would welcome contributions to the travel expenses. The board of directors has voted to reimburse up to $4000 of the team’s expenses.

GPS Coordinates

In case of a very serious medical emergency requiring helicopter transport, the GPS coordinates of the 50-yard range and the 800 number of the helicopter service are printed on the blackboard.
